Speed control
You have to show you can travel at a speed appropriate to the circumstances. Avoid selecting a lower gear to assist or replace braking, in order to reduce the speed of the vehicle. If you drive too slowly for the circumstances, you will be penalised.
- Check rear-view mirrors.
- Adjust your speed (select appropriate gear) as required, in accordance with traffic pattern, gradient of the road, road surface, visibility and speed restriction.
- Accelerate, if necessary.
- Decelerate, if necessary.
- Brake, if necessary.
