Level Crossing

Approach level crossings with caution and give way to rail traffic.

  1. Check rear-view mirrors.
  2. On approach, look to the right and left for rail traffic.
  3. Decelerate, if necessary.
  4. Brake, if necessary.
  5. Select an appropriate gear, if necessary.
  6. Proceed, if safe.
  7. Stop, if necessary.
  8. Apply the handbrake, if necessary.
  9. Select neutral, if necessary.
  10. Select 1st gear, if necessary.
  11. Observe, if applicable.
  12. Release the handbrake, if applicable.
  13. Move off, if safe.
